This Arts and Crafts silver matchbox cover carries a 1903 hallmark. It is embossed in the Art Nouveau style with a maiden’s head and foliate tendrils. Naturally it is the matchbox size of the period measuring 45mm long and 30mm wide. Condition is good. Both striking sides have replacement strikers and, for illustration purposes, the matches are cut down Swan Vestas So it is an operational as well as charming item.
