The hinged clasp is still in good working order and it is an impressive size measuring 75mm deep and 70mm wide. It is well hallmarked as you will see from the montage. This Victorian silver mounted glass inkwell by William Comyns & Sons, London 1895 is of a medium size, weighing 619g and measuring 85mm across the star cut base and 60mm high. Condition is good with the hinge sound and the glass well clean. The silver lattice work pattern interwoven with leaves and flowers makes a very attractive mount and is typical of the period and Comyns skill.

This intricate French Art Nouveau silver and gilt tea strainer was made by Charles Forgelot in Paris around 1905. The circular body is embossed with leafy berried fronds with a pierced central flower within a ring of stars. It has a turned fruitwood handle and measures 145mm long and 60mm across the bowl.
